While this movie takes place during a time of war,this isn't a war movie.The storyline unfolds in a civilian setting.Especially entertaining to me is that some of the characters in the movie think Viven Leigh's character is a stripper when she is a ballet dancer,they just know she's a dancer.In my faveriote scene an engagement party is going on.Three women are talking with each other.This may not be the exact dialogue but this is close.One woman says"Men are always falling for women that take their clothes off in public."
She makes everything so elegant and classy, even when it's not!

Da Leigh ihren Charakter durchgehend und im Verlauf des Filmes zunehmend als unentschlossen bis labil darstellt, ist auch das Ende stimmig. Then she learns that her beloved Roy is killed. - The ending will sadden you despite the great story.
Ein schönes Paar, sehr gute Schauspieler in allen Rollen, für die Zeit überdurchschnittliche Dialoge und eine sehr gelungene Inszenierung. Watched it quite by accident one Sunday morning. I definitely recommend it! NR I highly recommend this film to any fan of Vivien or Robert.

I am always looking for a Vivien Leigh film that has a worthy leading man and "Waterloo Bridge" is one of my favorites.
